Health and Wellness at Lead Mine ElementaryResearch has shown that healthy active kids are better students. The Lead Mine community is built on creating high performing students academically. Teachers and school administrators cannot do all of this on their own. The Health and Wellness Committee was created as part of the PTA that focuses on creating programs, raising awareness, seeking out resources, and being a leader in Wake County to support each kid at Lead Mine Elementary. The committee consists of parent volunteers, teachers, administration, and community partners. Join us today to make a difference!

Welcome to the new source for Health and Wellness information at Lead Mine Elementary - 10/22/17
This site has been created as a go to resource for the Lead Mine Elementary community for all things Health and Wellness related.
As many of you are aware WCPSS passed a new Student Wellness Policy to support the long term goal of the county to create better students through adequate nutrition and adequate physical activity. We have dedicated a Smart Snacks page to help you better understand the new requirements for food that you would bring into your child's classroom. At first glance, they are not easy to understand, but we have provided resources to make it easier.
Life as a teacher is hard. Each year the expectations and requirements get harder. As parent volunteers, we understand that. Through the help of the Student Wellness Club, we have created a page dedicated to short energizers to help break-up the school day and help get your students more focused when you are working on the academics. Additionally, under the Resources tab, you will find a section dedicated to Indoor Recess games. We live in North Carolina, so the weather can be crazy. When it rains or is too cold, this section will give you games to play with your students so they can get the 30 minutes a day of required recess. Also, please reference the Smart Snacks page of this site when sending communications out to parents about class snacks, parties, etc. We hope you find this site easy to use!
We as parent often struggle to help support our kids with healthy nutrition and activities, especially while on breaks. Please check out the Resources page for websites that can give you great ideas.
We hope everyone finds this new resource valuable and easy to use!
